Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park
The Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park is West Michigan’s destination for outdoor fun!
Located inside Muskegon State Park, it offers unique winter experiences you won't find anywhere else. Choose your own adventure – from the luge track, to ice skating and hockey, to cross-country ski and snowshoe trails. Whether you’re a thrill seeker or more relaxed in your winter activities, there’s something for everyone!
The biggest draw to the Muskegon Luge Park is, of course, the luge track, one of only four luge tracks that exist in the United States. Try the fastest sport on ice on this one-of-a-kind track! The 850-foot natural ice track consists of six curves and two starting areas and was designed specifically for general public use and those who have never tried luge before. Don't worry, they offer Learn to Luge lessons before they send you off at speeds of 30 mph.
If ice skating is more your speed, the park's got you covered. There are over 2 acres dedicated to outdoor ice skating, including three rinks for skating and hockey and a 1/4-mile lighted skating loop through the woods. If you don't have your own equipment, you can rent figure skates, hockey skates, hockey sticks, helmets and pucks.
In addition to the luge track and ice skating area, there are miles of groomed cross-country skiing trails and snowshoe trails along the Lake Michigan shoreline. The complex has multiple rated trail systems – from easy to advanced – for all levels of skiers and winter hikers. After nightfall, these trails are illuminated, making for a truly unforgettable outdoor winter experience. Last but not least, there's also a family sledding area and a winter zip line, in case you haven't had enough adventure!
When it's time to warm up after all that fun in the ice and snow, the sports lodge is where you can warm up by the fire, sip on hot chocolate and purchase snacks. Plus, the park has expanded outwards and built some great temporary spaces with heat and a beautiful fire pit garden.
